Mary C. Youssi

Mary C. Youssi is an attorney at Walny Legal Group, LLC, with offices in Milwaukee and Elm Grove. Her practice areas consist of estate planning and administration, probate, and asset protection planning, as well as elder law, including adult guardianship and protective placement.

The scope of Mary’s law practice involves preparing estate planning documents such as wills, revocable trusts, marital property agreements, powers of attorney, HIPAA waivers, and special needs trusts. She also handles special administration and probate matters for clients and is experienced at drafting petitions for temporary and permanent guardianship and protective placement on behalf of family members and corporate guardians when an adult is not able or no longer able to make his or her own decisions as a result of incapacity or impairment. Another aspect of Mary’s practice is working in conjunction with the other attorneys at Walny Legal Group to assist clients with long-term care and disability planning, using strategic gifting strategies, special needs trusts, pooled and community trusts (i.e., Wispact or Life Navigators), and ABLE accounts.

Mary spent her first several years after law school practicing at a civil litigation defense firm in the area, where she honed her skills in legal research and writing, as well as oral argument and client advocacy. She gained immeasurable experience there representing a large hospital system as petitioner in cases involving guardianship and involuntary administration of psychotropic medication for adults in need of external decision-makers. Those litigation advocacy skills have translated well into estate planning and elder law, where Mary pays specific attention to detail both in her document drafts and on behalf of her clients in the courtroom.

A native of the Milwaukee area, Mary graduated Summa Cum Laude from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Political Science and English, with a Spanish Minor.  She went on to receive her Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School, as well as certificates in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. During law school, she was an Article Editor for the Marquette Benefits and Social Welfare Law Review and an executive board member for the MULS Moot Court Program, achieving success on both the intramural and national levels.

Currently, Mary is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin in the Elder Law Chapter, in addition to the Milwaukee Bar Association, where she is a member of the Probate Bench-Bar Committee. She continues to volunteer as a Moot Court judge and coach for current Marquette Law students. Mary spends her time outside of the office with her husband and two children, as well as teaching at the Milwaukee Irish Dance Studio in Shorewood.
