TMJ4 News featured Walny Legal Group’s signing of Wisconsin’s first high school Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal, completed just one day after the WIAA’s policy went into effect in May 2025.
The firm partnered with Darcy Doyle, a lacrosse standout at the University School of Milwaukee and Northwestern University commit. “It was important for me to do a deal that helped bring a little bit of light onto women’s sports,” said attorney Eido Walny, founder of Walny Legal Group. “Darcy’s an amazing person, great athlete, has a huge future ahead of her, so she was just a great candidate for us.”
As part of the partnership, Doyle will spearhead a social media campaign aimed at increasing legal awareness among young adults. “What Darcy will be doing for us,” Walny explained, “is helping young people—especially those around 18—understand the importance of having essential documents like powers of attorney and HIPAA authorizations.”
He also cautioned that NIL deals at the high school level must comply precisely with WIAA rules to avoid eligibility risks. “The WIAA is still navigating the rules themselves, and so there are a lot of traps for the unwary,” he said. “The last thing you want to do is get into a contract with a student athlete that results in them being ineligible.”
